OUR
STORY
Coming off the success of selling our business at a relatively young age, we had the great fortune of spending parts of our summers in places like the British Virgin Islands. We'd take seaplanes to a small island called Tortola and spend a week sailing through the islands and losing ourselves in the never-ending horizon.
For these weeks, our backyard was bright blue and our front door was the bow of a sailboat. With the sun in the sky and a crew full of friends, we were never more at ease than when we were at the helm.
That was 2007. In 2008, the stock market crashed and eventually took our safety net with it. Like many other families at the time, our focus shifted to starting over and getting back on our feet.
We were starting to do just that when our oldest daughter developed an autoimmune disorder known commonly as ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Pupura). In an already stressful time, weekly doctor's visits and a growing stack of medical bills left us longing for the days we'd spent on the water. Our memories of the Islands became more than just memories - they became escapes.
It was in one of these moments, as we sat around the kitchen table reminiscing over those good old days, that Sailin' Away came to be. It was born in a moment of release, as a means of reconnecting ourselves to a simpler time and that's what we wanted to create for you.
Our mission is that every time you visit our website, slip on our ball cap, or curl up in our t-shirt, you are taken to a place that brings you true and honest release. We believe that it's okay to want to get away, so let's go together.
